Facebook Account Hacked? Recover It Before They Lock You Out

Unknown logins, changed email, friends getting scam messages 'from you' — the recovery race, in order.

  1. 1. Start recovery from a device you've used before

Go to facebook.com/hacked on your own phone or computer — recovery succeeds far more often from recognized devices and networks. Follow the identity steps immediately; every hour gives the attacker time to change recovery options.

  2. 2. Kick every session and check the email chain

Once back in: Settings → Security → Where you're logged in → Log out of all sessions. Then verify your email and phone number are still yours — attackers swap these first so password resets go to them.

  3. 3. Warn your contacts and lock the blast radius

Post that you were hacked and to ignore money requests. Then secure the email account behind Facebook (it's the master key), turn on two-factor with an authenticator app, and review connected apps for anything you don't recognize.

Authenticator-app two-factor, unique password via a manager, and login alerts on. SMS two-factor alone gets SIM-swapped — the app version doesn't.
