Recall an Email in Gmail? Undo Send Setup in 30 Seconds

Gmail can't unsend — but it can wait. Set the 30-second cancellation window and use it forever.

  1. 1. Set cancellation to 30 seconds

Gmail → Settings → See all settings → Undo Send → 30 seconds → Save. Five seconds (the default) is barely enough to notice; thirty gives your brain time to catch up with your fingers.

  2. 2. Learn the Undo habit

After sending, the Undo button appears bottom-left for your window. Click it — the message returns to draft, unsent. Practice once on a test email to yourself so the motion is automatic.

  3. 3. For truly sensitive mail, schedule instead

Send dropdown → Schedule send for tomorrow morning. Scheduled mail sits editable until it goes — the ultimate undo window for anything that matters.
