"Shared With Me" Chaos? Organize It in 10 Minutes

A graveyard of random shared files — shortcuts, follow/unfollow, and the hygiene that keeps it usable.

  1. 1. Add shortcuts for keepers, ignore the rest

For each important shared item: Add shortcut to My files into a sensible folder. Ignore the rest — Shared With Me is a chronological firehose, not an organization system.

  2. 2. Remove yourself from dead shares

Select stale items → Remove from shared list (doesn't delete the source). Ex-colleagues' folders and finished projects go first — if you haven't opened it in 6 months, remove yourself.

  3. 3. Ask owners to share folders, not files

Request shared folders with stable names instead of one-off file links. One organized folder beats forty scattered file shares that rot when people leave.
