Bluetooth Won't Connect on Windows? Pair It Properly

Headphones, mice, and keyboards that refuse to pair — the remove-re-pair cycle plus the two services that must run.

  1. 1. Remove, restart, re-pair cleanly

Settings → Bluetooth → remove the device. Turn the accessory fully off, restart the PC, then put the accessory in pairing mode (usually hold power 5+ seconds until it flashes) and pair fresh. Layered pairings from old attempts conflict constantly.

  2. 2. Check the Bluetooth services

Win+R → services.msc → confirm Bluetooth Audio Gateway, Bluetooth Support Service, and Bluetooth User Support Service are Running and Automatic. Updates flip these to Manual more often than you'd think.

  3. 3. Update or reinstall the Bluetooth driver

Device Manager → Bluetooth → right-click adapter → Update driver. If that fails, Uninstall device (keep driver files unchecked), reboot, and let Windows rediscover it cleanly.
