Label Printer for Shipping: Setup Once, Print Forever
Dymo, Rollo, and thermal basics — drivers, sizing, and the scaling setting that ruins every first label.
1. Install the maker software, not just the driver
Dymo Connect and Rollo drivers include label designers and correct size definitions. Windows generic drivers print postage-stamp output on 4x6 stock.
2. Set scaling to 100 percent actual size
In every print dialog: scaling equals Actual size, never Fit. Carrier barcodes need exact dimensions — a scaled label scans as garbage and packages stall.
3. Match stock size in software and tray
4x6 in software must match 4x6 loaded physically. Mismatches cause the classic half-printed, offset, or blank labels. Label the stock box with the size to end the guessing.
Label Printer for Shipping: Setup Once, Print Forever — When to Call a Pro
- Multi-carrier shipping station with scales, printers, and software integrated.
- Thermal printer hardware faults (faded prints means dying head).
- Warehouse label workflows with barcodes that must scan first time.
Guide FAQ
Thermal, no contest — no ink costs, waterproof-ish labels, faster. Inkjet shipping labels smear and bleed money.
Upside-down roll (thermal side matters) or wrong stock size in software. Flip the roll first — it fixes most blank-label cases.
